Ah – you’re a golfer! Thanks for the follow. Surrounded as I am by one golf course and just up the road from Royal Birkdale you’d think I’d be a fan wouldn’t you? But I’ve mellowed since I’ve been here… I see ordinary folks out there having a good time, not wheeling and dealing. Perhaps they save that for the clubhouse? 😉 Very impressed by your scratch journey.

Continue the good progress toward your goal of scratch, learn to enjoy your game, don’t concentrate on the score – only focus on the shot you’re about to play. It will add up in the end to the score you are wanting to achieve.

I don’t know how you stumbled upon my blog, (thanks for the like, btw) but we’re kindred spirits, Matt. Golf is the greatest individual sport ever invented and I’ve had a desire and long-term goal of getting my game to scratch someday. Still holding out hope as I near age 60, but had my handicap index down to 1.8 for about 2 weeks many years ago and still think there’s an outside chance I can drop it down to zero by playing smarter and more consistently (and bringing my range swing onto the golf course!) 🙂
Got the putter back on track this season after years of enduring a brutal case of the yips, so maybe I can get the irons kicked up a level in 2015.
Good luck in your quest and I’ll check in from time to time to read about your trials and tribulations.

I was a player in my teen years. At that time my father was still an active duty NCO which gave me access to several courses at no cost to me. It was not unusual to play two rounds everyday.
Although I do not have access to a course here on this island, I still can enjoy your posts.
